You're definitely not the only one I've heard say stuff like that about the 10 minute All Too Well. I love that we're finally hearing the song how it was meant to be heard though, and I also am enjoying the fact that it sounds a little different. To me the new sections didn't sound forced in at all but maybe that's because I only really got into the original 5 minute version about a year ago and I have less of an attachment to it. I'm not sure why, but for years I thought it was boring and dragged on, I guess I never really took the time to invest in the lyrics which is super unlike me but whatever. The new one and old one both rule IMO but having the new 10 min version will always make the 5 min one feel incomplete to me now.

Definitely agreed on hearing it how it's meant to be heard. I haven't gone and listened to the original again, that could be interesting. I've never been a giant Taylor Swift fan, just casual if anything, but am super into and intrigued by her reclaiming her music. I'll be honest in saying that I'll probably never listen to this full thing, but the tracks that I've pulled have been great. Even with what I said about the ten-minute All Too Well, it's still really good and so out of the wheelhouse of what I ever would have anticipated her releasing. No matter what folks think of her music, there's no doubting she's one of the most important artists of this century.
Monster of a review by the way - Definitely has me wanting to pull out a few tracks to check here!

Thanks dmathias! I'm not sure what the b-sides here are doing for you (if anything) considering you're more of a casual fan, but I'd definitely be interested in seeing what you think of her best albums (Speak Now, 1989, Fearless...arguably this...possibly Folklore!) I haven't cross-referenced your ratings to see if you've already done this, although if not then I'd highly recommend it on the grounds that she is indeed - as you stated - one of the most important artists of the century. :-)

She should have said “fucked it all up” in the 10 minute version

Oooh yes! Sowing moving from a 2 on this to calling it a triumph is a beautiful sight. The original is one of the best examples of relational melancholia in pop music and this elevates it that much higher.

lol Chan that part of the song literally played as I was reading your comment and I can't help but agree, would have rolled off the tongue easier and packed a bigger punch at the same time
Yeah Luc, I dunno what was up with 2012 me, but I think I had such a flippant attitude towards music critique (and a lot of things) during my earlier sput days that I've thankfully adopted a more serious stance towards since. Regardless of that though, this has grown steadily throughout the years. This came out a few months after I started dating my wife, so even though it was an initial disappointment, I think I've come to value a lot of these songs more than I anticipated. Even objectively, I think this has aged quite well, particularly the slower and more serious tracks like Treacherous, All Too Well, I Almost Do, The Lucky One, etc.

Avoiding this one at all costs. Red is her worst album by a significant margin; don't need to hear a 30-track version.

I don’t think I’ve listened to “I Almost Do” since the album came out. Sounds a lot better to me now.

A lot of these songs have done a 180. When this first came out I wished she'd just gone completely in the catchy pop direction of Trouble/22/Never Ever, now I wish it was a full album of All Too Well/Treacherous style stuff with some rockier State of Grace sprinkled in.

Never been a fan of Red and this didn't change my mind. Solid writing though

Thanks. My opinion on Red has changed completely independently of this release, although the new songs certainly help

I already enjoyed the hell out of the original Red, but this is even better. I absolutely love the new 10-minute version of All Too Well, and I say that as someone who didn't think too much of the original version
Great review too Sowing. I love these re-recordings of Swift's old albums so far

Agreed that the 10 minute version is the best. I can understand how people who stanned the abbreviated version for years (I didn't) could think the new one sounds weird, but I think there's no topping the 10 minute "original" as it was meant to be heard.
Also, I could totally make a classic 5/5 Red album by scrapping the worst 4 songs for some of the best vault ones.

Really need to listen to this and Fearless

The new Fearless is fine but the additional songs didn't do much for me
This version really feels like it adds something to what Red was meant to be/should have been

probably wont listen to the whole thing but the Phoebe song is nice
