For most of Ed Sheeran's career, I've been wishing he'd cut out the goofy white rapper trash that he's so terrible at but for whatever reason refused to cede; here he's finally done it. The problem is that most of the normal pop songs are forgettable and the ballads are less poignant than in the past. Everything here has sort of just been shoved into the middle; it's like every Ed Sheeran song ever written was put into a computer program and then they used AI to generate the closest approximation to "the most representative Ed Sheeran track" possible, and every song is that precise mixture of condensed traits. Because I happened to like Sheeran it's not all bad for me, but this has almost no highlights or lowlights and kind of just rides by undetected. High 2.5 or low 3, but I'll give this the benefit of the doubt for now that it might grow after a few additional spins.

So this guy’s just gonna straight-up forget the minus symbol? Ok

He is finished now with the symbols theme, isn't it?
I've only skimmed the album. Seems to be another sort-of genreless album. There's a bit of pop rock, folk and disco too. I didn't like the disco songs that were released as singles, though.

Who the fuck plays Wembley and complains about it on a track? Only Ed Sheeran would.

I'm surprised more mainstream artists don't release a black metal album, even just once, for the meme value alone

That's how I imagine The 1975 have constructed their last few albums.
"Boys, the next track should be a techno banger followed by a folk ballad."

Folklore certainly LOOKS like a Black Metal album

Ed Sheeran has unfortunately gotten a little bit worse with every release since his first record. It has a couple of good tracks but overall it's pretty forgettable.

It feels like with every Ed Sheeran album and the singles that follow, there's always a couple of songs that come on the radio that'll have me like "oooh. I like this one." and other ones that make me leave the room...

I'm not joking when I say a Phoebe Bridges Ed Sheeran collab project would be pretty cool, every song in the vibe of Phoebe songs tho

Look I don’t go out of my way to listen to Ed Sheeran but I know he had some ok acoustic songs a while back. I had the unfortunate pleasure of having to sit through this whole album of overproduced trash while in the car with the Mrs. Shes one of those listen to the radio types, not too involved in music. She thought it was pretty ordinary as well. This guy has a good voice would be good to see him do something interesting not just churning out the $ for the record label.
