Been a while since I've done a Steely Dan discog run, maybe I should do that again soon

Was thinking about you today actually. And the amazing run of reviews you did.
This album is nice for me, every older age it makes more sense

Nice! Yeah, it was probably my favorite discog review I've ever done (at least out of the ones I've completed). I'd written off these guys for so long due to their reputation among younger listeners, only to realize that I was missing out on an incredible body of work. Also, a much more sophisticated and progressive one than I expected... hell, Two Against Nature is practically a fusion record

Almost Gothic might just be one of my all-time favorite Steely Dan songs

I know I'm going against you and Christgau, but it takes a lot for me to like jazz fusion. Would getting the Greatest Hits to compare it to help me? Sorry for bringing down the ratings temporarily.

My favourite is "Jack of Speed", not "Cousin Dupree" as you may think.
I like how the guitar and instrumentals on "Negative Girl" serve the song, but that's only two songs.
Why do you like this so much?

"I'm so damn torn between giving this a 4 and a 4.5. Really wish I had those staff ratings so I could give it a 4.3 or something"
Well here we are, lol

Over a year later, and this still holds true

Yeah, I like “Almost Gothic” too—how quiet it is.

^ That, and I feel like it's one of the most sincere songs they've ever done. Obviously there's still some snark to it, but it's nice to hear a Dan song that isn't absolutely filled to the brim with irony and sarcasm
