Brilliant opening song for yet another brilliant album to come out this year

I listened to a couple of songs a few days ago and found it solid, not exactly my cup of tea, but solid nonetheless.

Thanks @hel9000!

Glad you're enjoying, @nash1311! Unreqvited's music is a little hard to classify but I think that's the easiest umbrella to group it into

Is it just me or is the sound production way off on this... Like the left is wayyyy louder than the right.

need to listen to this all the way through but it's ok so far

would not put deafheaven down as a particularly good blackgaze band and would not put sunbather anywhere near an upper tier list for blackgaze, it's nowhere even half as good as the heretoir self-titled, either trautonist record, even the worst an autumn for crippled children record, etc. it's like someone heard alcest and was like "yeah let's make this but lets also rip off quietly, undramatically at the same time"

@quetzal, the albums/bands referenced in the review were more about impact of music/reputation rather than sheer musical quality. Personally, I casually enjoy Deafheaven's music but have Sunbather rated as a 3.5, so it's not one of my personal top choices for blackgaze/blackgaze-connected music either. Nonetheless, it's still a widely recognized and influential album.

Something is telling me to rate this SUPER high but im trying to restrain myself until I listen to it more, it's just hitting the right emotional punch right now.

Okay, this has some absolutely stellar bits and some parts I just can't seem to appreciate at all. Your cat is safe, sunny. Also, someone should edit the similar bands section, because seeing woods of desolation and ghost bath there might put off people with good taste from checking this out.

this band is always hit or miss with me. I would say hit like 85% of the time, but every once in a while there's a part here or there that's TOO much

"Your cat is safe, sunny"- LOL, that's a relief, Pika!

@TheSpirit, that's pretty much my problem with Unreqvited as well, mostly great music but the albums are usually somewhat uneven

I found this one to be pretty even. Really cohesive piece. I find blackgaze either despairing or uplifting (and dig both) and this def sits in the uplifting cat. The last song is something else, and can return to this tune alone if got a spare 5
