Crazy how good Kyo was still able to sound here, considering the numerous surgeries.
Seems like he is less wreckless with his technique nowadays.

Dead on pleb. He’s almost unhinged at times on this

Yeah man. Archer has its moments, but it’s full in here. Diabolos though... gets me every time.

Yeah, definitely. I somehow managed to get a sealed box set years after its release...
I'll go with "Diabolos".

man, that's lucky. i paid a decent price but it was used. it's in very good condition mind, so it's all good.
thought you'd have my back on diabolos though evo haha pretty close race but diabolos has such an epic crescendo

i'm only just getting to the bonus tracks for this album too, after all these years.
Akatsuki demo sounds so much more brutal haha

It also has that engrossing atmosphere, but both are amazing epics.
I admit I also didn't give those deep cuts/alternate versions enough attention either.

I'd go with Diabolos too.

Diabolos is probably better, but that last chorus of Vinushka is heart wrenching so its a tough call for me. I find it hard to believe there are fans who dont like this album, but I guess those are the ones who were more into the poppier sound of their earlier releases

While I don't think it's a classic in their discog, I think it's one of their top albums. It drags a bit for me towards the end. Diabolos is pretty hard for me to get through, and then also finish the album after that slow burn. I prefer Uroboros for sure. Maybe fans who started later with DEG would latch onto this one more.

For me id say Uroboros is my favourite all around listen, just cause of how nicely it flows and gives such a satisfying atmosphere, but DSS has some of their best and most complex songwriting they ever did (Different Sense especially, i am always in awe by not only the instrumental aspects of the track but Kyos lyrics). The three albums our lord and saviour Tue Madsen worked on are all near perfect for me lol (for Uroboros, the Remastered ofc)

This album's pacing is hilariously soul-crushing. The first 7 songs are so oppressive and it doesn't let you breathe for that entire run time. While I love that now it made the album very hard to get into intitially.

"While I love that now it made the album very hard to get into initially."
these days I feel like that was intentional when the band was writing the album
