never thought i'd say "adam levine vored his bandmates" and it would almost sound legit

Yep. The band went pretty much from a band to the Adam Lavine's vanity project, much like Jared Leto's 30stm

Maroon 5 was always Adam's vanity project.

The reality is "bands" tend to gain more commercial traction than someone's full name. This isn't always the case, but more so when it comes to male vocalists than female ones. Pretty much the revival of Kara's Flowers, and then their name change to Maroon 5, was all Adam's idea. The other's just went with it because they knew he would strike gold and wanted a slice of the pie.

It's the same thing with 30 Seconds to Mars and OneRepublic. Male vocalists who want to give the illusion of a band without being a unified project. Just because albums are "good" doesn't mean it was the entire bands idea. You can think early 30 Secs to Mars was good, but if you don't think those early albums were 100% Jared Leto's vision, then I have a very sturdy bridge to sell you.

IWBSBL honestly slightly edges out Songs and Hands for me, their prime actually lasted longer than most give them credit for...

dot dot dot

...which makes their spiral into obscurity even more tragic; they didn't merely have promise. they seized/harnessed it for a brief time and *then* they went to complete shit

what's even worse is they keep teasing us by packaging every album with the tiniest lil slivers of the talent they've squandered
