And I thought reviews were completely opinion-based. Like, they're just the writer presenting their opinions on an album.

This review comes across a little (a lot?) overblown, though music is subjective of course. If you like it, you like it. Nuff said. I do agree "Futureal" is a great track. It alone kept my rating above 2.

Also, I would've been... what, 3 or 4 in 2006? Certainly not old enough to even have a concept of the internet. And my first clear memory of music is my dad showing me the Delicate Sound of Thunder concert film. Or it might've been a Tommy concert film that I've never been able to find since. I know it exists because I clearly remember it having text at the start explaining the story and I clearly remember that version of Tommy's Holiday Camp. It wasn't the 80's one, because it was just the band and they looked Who's Next-era. And they said at the start that they weren't doing Cousin Kevin and Sensation in that particular performance.



Anyway, enough of that ramble... I only discovered Sputnik last year and didn't really start using it until a few months ago. OK, my tastes might be very 2006, but that's the kind of music I grew up hearing. My sister was a big Arctic Monkey's fan, my brother played pretty much nothing but pop-punk, emo and 2000's rock/hard rock. My mother played a lot of 80's music and my dad showed me a lot of classic rock music. So I have quite the taste just from that, and I started developing my own taste a few years ago when I properly got into music. I discovered Maiden through the Flight 666 documentary, Saxon through their Wacken concert film.



These days, I listen to music all the time and that's no exaggeration. In the words of John Miles: 'Music was my first love and it will be my last, music of the future and music of the past. To live without my music would be impossible to do, cause in this world of troubles, my music pulls me through.'



So, yeah. Music is pretty much my whole life. When I give an opinion, it's genuine. When I rate an album, it's a completely honest rating.



In conclusion, I think someone as obsessed with music as me would have a good idea of what they're talking about. Hell, Shoot Me Again is my jam at the moment. 'Shoot me again, I ain't dead yet!'

Hell, I spend most of my musical life in 2001.

Ah, right. I find track by tracks easier to get my thoughts across with tbh, I'm not really one for 7 sentence long paragraphs about the general sound or a 5 sentence paragraph about just one song. I prefer to keep things simple and relatively easy to understand.



I also tend to get writer's block if I'm working on something long.

Track-by-tracks are easier to write, but less interesting to read because you don't need to describe EVERY song on the album to get across the general vibe & overall quality (or lack thereof) of the album.

Your review doesn't have to be super long either, some of the best reviews are short, sharp & to the point.

Seems to me the haters/detractors are listening to a different Virtual XI, the album doesn't sound at all bad to me. Same goes for the other generally disliked albums.



And hate gets to me a lot, whether toward me or something I love. Doesn't help that I have quite a few insecurities and tend to self-devalue. The hate adds to that.



And I'm 18, but insults like that are completely unnecessary. Especially saying someone should be killed because of an opinion. That kind of thing is the mark of someone who only has negativity in their heart. Don't even try and claim that was a joke, because it clearly wasn't.



Yes, I love every song on the album. The meme I linked earlier is mine and is completely true. Well... Angel is actually tied with Unbeliever and Empire of the Clouds.
