I 4.5'd their first album but that's the only one I've heard lol.

Solid release, but I doubt I'll come back to it much

It's like all the newest Testament stuff. Super solid thrash that you enjoy while it's on, but when you're in a Thrash mood, there's probably some nostalgia-filled album you'll listen to instead.

The genre reached its peak in the mid to late 1980s and was gradually overtaken by more extreme subgenres, I think we can all agree on that. Except for a few exceptions like Vektor or more recently Cryptosis we could even say it's a stagnant style. Nevertheless, I can perfectly see myself coming back to tracks like 'Blood in the Water' or 'Seven Seconds 'til the End of the World' as they're indeed great songs, even if they're not stylistically relevant.

Agree its a very solid modern thrash slab. Got Arch Enemy vibes on Too Many Lives and other influences elsewhere

I've only heard Doomsday and I can't remember it very clearly but there is more power metal than thrash in here that say the Cryptosis or the Artillery comeback.
Or that's what I'm getting on first listen.

These lads have always swung between thrash, speed, power, and even heavy metal. They have never been a straightforward thrash band.

I dislike Metallica, will I enjoy this?

Oh you'll love it.

This sounds nothing like metallica lol
If you dig new era Testament, you'll probably find something to enjoy here too

As an early (and recent) Testament fan, I'm absolutely digging this! Great Album!

Agreed, (old and new) Testament fans will most likely enjoy this, as will Metal Church or Sanctuary enthusiasts, for example.

And Nevermore fans too I reckon

Nevermore fans should check out Flotsam's The Cold album. That's this band basically trying to fill the Nevermore void.

The fact that this band drops bangers like this 40 years after their inception is mind-melting. Barely a weaker moment, just professinal, well-written, energetic melodic thrash with great musicianship.

"A Place To Die" fucken rips.

That galloping Maiden-ish verse and subsequent chorus are super tasty. The next song has a somewhat similar vibe.

I think this is their most "European" album by far.
Tech power/thrash that straddles the Atlantic.
