Going through this again now and yeah, Ritual Annihilation is naaastyyy.

So impressed with this, quite a big step up from Red Before Black imo.

I dig Red Before Black, I love its straightforward nature.

I just feel like a lot of the tracks on there blend together, especially after the first few songs.

One thing this album has going for it is every track is discernible from the other, which is quite rare on a CC album.

The snare tone on Red Before Black was awful as well.

Probably their weakest album next to Gore Obsessed tbh, but still has a handful of jams like Only One Will Die and Code of the Slashers

Agreed, the songs have a personality of their own.

What I find interesting about this album is that it grows on me every time I listen to it. And I've been listening for a week now.

I think that's down to every track having its own aforementioned personality.

Rutan definitely helped a ton with that here too, he brings a lot of cool melodies/ideas to the album.

Production wise they've never sounded better as well, really thick and raw yet somehow retains a lot of clarity.

Yeah it's a really good time, Ford.

Although I know you've always just seen CC as solid, so this probably won't change your view on them haha.

Its more of the same but done even better than usual.

I mean, im happy with solidly executed dm. Plus it's been ages since I jammed literally any cc so they're probably due for a re-check

I see they're back to the grotesque artwork after A Skeletal Domain and Red Before Black toned it down considerably.

Will keep my eyes peeled.

Yeah, this album cover isn't something you would show grandma at the family gathering.

I generally avoided Cannibal Corpse until A Skeletal Domain cos I was always put off by the artwork, when ASD came out that was something that I wasn't repulsed by and it got me into the band. Still only have that and Red Before Black though, never gone beforehand cos I still think stuff like Eaten Back to Life and Tomb of the Mutilated are a step too far for my tastes. I'll probably just use the censored art for this one too just cos I am one of those people that judges a book by its cover at some level. When I go on Bandcamp I generally just look for album art within each tag that interests me and check it from there.
