That was some of the most proper techno and electro I've seen in forever, what a selector!!! Shame the crowd absolutely blew cuz he was throwing down a master class

Yup vibes/crowd are just as important especially as I get older. Too much infiltration from non-ravers and friends of the venue owner. Maybe we should bring back gatekeeping lol

In my experience gatekeeping becomes almost irrelevant when the promoter has an actual vision for their party other than it being a party. Lots of people out there putting stuff on without knowing their ‘why’ for what they’re doing, which is gonna attract others who don’t have a strong ‘why’ for attending
If your ethos is your impressive bookings etc, you end up focusing too much on the aesthetic of the lineup, and the culture of your ‘pop-up space’ / rave / DIY event whatever you wanna call it, becomes secondary, and the party eventually becomes a free for all. That’s a fast track to harsh, sloppy vibes

Sorry for the late reply I was in my rave coma and forgot to comment. The gatekeeping was more a joke towards my annoyance. As far as vision for the party, I do give them the benefit of the doubt. It was a local crew putting on their first show and Objekt was a huge get but I'm not sure if promo didn't go well or too many other things were happening that night. I'm hoping they get some feedback and think of a better location for next time. I do agree with everything you're saying which is why I'm typically skeptical of afters outside of known crews. Coming from Miami though, almost any crowd is better than there lol
