i need a full out slowcore julien album before she stops making music.

Listened through once and enjoyed it, but wasn't necessarily blown away. Will have to have a few spins before I make a full assessment.

I gotta let this grow on me. I think I'm a bit oversaturated in sad lady indie rock right now.

I need to spend some more time with this one, but it's good. Really like Hardline.

Isn't there another popular album called Little Oblivions or am I making that up? I'm too lazy to check.

big. hard. pos'd

Definitely noticed the Frightened Rabbit similarities too
|
| |
The instrumentation is super Frightened Rabbit. For what it's worth, Julien appeared on one of their songs.
|
| |
Oh damn apparently this and her last one are up on BC? Gonna have to check em both out then
|
| |
Also seeing ppl compare this to Frightened Rabbit has me very excited because I liked that old Star Killers album a lot more than Sprained Ankle so if it's a more folk-rock sound here I'm all for it

Also the frightened rabbit comparisons are cool! Nice callout, loved her cover on the memorial album.

This just sounds like rly run-of-the-mill female fronted indie rock to me. These albums always get hyped into the stratosphere and I'm always left scratching my head as I listen along trying to hear what everyone else hears. Ziptie is the only song that really stands out to me and it doesn't exactly break the mould.
Gonna stick with it a bit longer but my perspective hasn't changed much after 2 full plays

This grabs me in a way her other albums didn't. Love the "full band" sound.

She’s one of those artists that you can just buy the album without streaming/screening prior to; you know it’s going to be a solid purchase.
|
| |
Yeah you might but that certainly doesn't hold true for me lmao. Thought her last one was boring af
