ngl the riffs sound super cookie-cutter too. which, again, isn't a bad thing i guess

Solid review. I'm loving this album. I think the more accessible approach on their sound established with CNJ was a smart move. They've managed to keep just enough of their shoegaze roots while acknowledging they basically live and die by the hook as evident by their best songs, "Stoned, Alone", "Supermachine", "Yellowbelly", and "High Again".
I think Marshall's voice serves the music just as well as Kamtin's. I think there's some growing left to do, but it's solid and arguably more dynamic in my opinion. I found it odd that you don't care for "Silverspoon". I think that song sounds the most like CNJ on here. My only grip with the album is it's a little too lean. I understand they probably wanted a catchy, easily digestible listen, but I wish some of the songs were allowed to breathe a bit and the addition of one to two songs would've really fleshed the whole thing out. Regardless, I hope the band gets the recognition they deserve.

i think that might be just it: it feels like a poor man's cnj to me.. kamtin's absence is esp clear because of the similarities. but yeah i hope this album gets them a good amount of attention!

Yeah you should check it Calc, the last album definitely leaned harder into the grungy shoegazy vibes while this one leans more JEW-ish pop punk. Album is definitely going to get some regular rotation in the near future.

I love Kamtin's voice but I thought Marshall did a great job. Also what are you talking about, Silverspoon is one of the best tracks off the album smh.

I hope Kamtin returns man. I love what they were doing on CNJ

Album feels more polished and poppy. Not thrilled really. A couple tracks are decent.

I honestly like the vocals on here more than the other albums. Just more to my taste I guess but the last guy felt very whiny and nasally in a way I don't care for.

So, unpopular opinion, I think this might be better than the debut. There are some massive hooks and melodies on this thing.

I didn't get into their debut because of its average as fuck-ness, but this is fantastic
