Don't get me wrong, I love the sea and I love the beach, and it's the one thing I really miss now I live 10 miles or so inland. But oh my god the shite towns.

The weird thing is, I can become weirdly defensive of them.

“now I live 10 miles inland”

Holy shit I can’t fathom (ha, sea words) this coming from midland USA lol

Well, just because you live near the sea doesn't mean you get all that much access to it. I have a small strip of beach way down the block from my house, but God forbid you actually set a toe on it -- the last time I did, the lady who owned that corner house practically had a stroke.

I hate to do this and fracture phero’s dignity, but this discourse necessitates a setting straight
rochester is not a seaside town
a big river does run through it, mind, and there are seagulls, but we don’t have arcades or knick knack shops selling sticks of rock and nudey postcards

Let me open your world up a little bit anat

You could BE the nudey postcard in Rochester, should you want to manifest such an idyllic setting. It's within your power to do so

I could stand outside baggins, the self proclaimed England’s largest second hand bookshop, wearing nothing but fingerless gloves?

Yeah this whole thing's beautiful, fucking phenomenal work

Is I'm Away Now kind of an homage to Scott Hutchison?

I was born in Margate!! Grew up in Ramsgate for my first 7 or 8 years so I'm pretty familiar with Thanet at large. Jesus.

In Ashford now though. Is it much better? Depends I guess. Town centre is a dive, but there's some beautiful areas around here.

I like ramsgate the most out of the kent coasts, some lovely scenery, but there’s something strangely enchanting about the dead ones like marsgate and even leysdown, they’re absolute time capsules
