@JayEnder - That was called Crash Mode. There's a budget video game called Danger Zone and Danger Zone 2 that are spiritual sequels to Burnout 3's Crash Mode, so, if you're looking to experience a bit of that Takedown charm on current-gen hardware, check those games out (they were also developed by some of the team behind the Burnout series). They're not particularly great games, because it's literally just the one mode, but it made me happy to experience that type of game mode again (and I also bought the first game for super-cheap on the PSStore). There's also Dangerous Driving from the same team and that looks pretty good too (haven't played that one myself quite yet, so don't take my word for it). I'd also recommend Wreckfest from the creators of the FlatOut game series.

Honestly Battlefront 2 (modern) has a lot to love. Heroes vs Villains in particular is a blast. EA fixed a lot of the bs from launch, including deleting microtransactions. I got into the game like a year and a half after launch and it was much improved

I may have to give it a shot then because it was a free game for PSPlus recently.

Me and my cousin played this, Gauntlet: Dark legacy and Battlefront 2 on ps2 for hours whenever we met up

Yeah I've personally lost all faith in EA. Even when they brought back SSX, Battlefront, & made Mirrors Edge 2 they completely forgot some of the key elements that made those games great. (Where is Galactic Conquest in Battlefront?)
I'm hoping the success with the new Tony Hawk remaster will maybe convince others to bring back some of those more of those "extreme games". Dangerous Driving looked okay, but It clearly doesn't have the budget or polish it needs to be special, and It's disappointing news that the sequel will be open world.
Also PS2 era was the goat for couch co-op games, now so many games don't even offer split screen.

@riffraffic7 thanks for the insight dude! Danger Zone does sound interesting, I always wondered how a "demolition" style game would play on next gen. And if the first one is cheap, I'll definitely give it a spin. Flatout and Need For Speed were always fun too. Even Gran Turismo.
Gonna miss the incredible pop punk type soundtrack this game had tho :[ that's the most nostalgic part for me.

@GmemberKills - I miss split-screen/co-op modes in games as well. PS2 was probably my favourite era for gaming. It was the perfect balance between just right and next-gen tech. I think a lot more games released now are overly reliant on the "next-gen tech", especially with the amount of space they take up on your hardware, rather than getting the games themselves "just right". I replayed some PS1/PS2 games a year or so ago and they hold up incredibly-well.
@JayEnder - You're welcome. The sequel to Danger Zone looks a bit better, I haven't got that one yet, just went with the first, and all of the environments are virtual (whereas the sequel seems to have more realistic settings). I probably wouldn't recommend buying it at normal price, I think it's $20 (sequel's closer to $30), wait for a sale to have it at $5 or less (which is what I got it for). I always mute racing games now and just play soundtracks off of YouTube.

Oh my god the nostalgia is real. I put at least 100 hours into this game as a kid. This soundtrack definitely shaped my taste in music.

All they really had to do was copy/paste the second game and bring it to modern standards. Instead they monkey paw'd it like usual. Heroes and Villains is a lot of fun, though I think I still prefer the chaos of the original.

Yep and the remaster is great!

A classic indeed. I tried playing this on an emulator and it didn't run that well sadly. :c
Also a bit late here. But if we're talking about classic star wars games we can't forget about Republic Commando.
And I recently played the first Fable on steam recently, it definitely does not hold up by RPG standards but it is still a hell of a lot of fun to play.

Republic Commando was such a great game. Jedi Academy too.

I think I just played a demo for Republic Commando, I remember liking that, so I'd definitely like the chance to play the full game someday. Never got into Jedi Academy, but I had a bunch of buddies tell me fantastic things about it. I think the Star Wars game I wanted to play the most, that I didn't get the chance to, was Knights of the Old Republic, that game always looked like it was right up my alley.
