On the first track and yeah, the vocals are an easy fit for this. I'm almost disappointed after Slex's comment bc I expected Laurel Halo-level fuckyou delivery. Nice stuff so far - hope it keeps up!

Maybe it's the vocalist searching for that sweet, sweet autotune so that people here will like him.

I think his voice is whiny and reminds me so much of so many other pop punk vocalists. I just don't like the style whatsoever, rly has nothing to do with him not having a pretty voice lol - I listen to a lot of eccentric vocalists

I'm mostly busting your balls. Whiny is the last thing I got from his voice though - amateurish maybe at the screechiest peaks, but I find that endearing so whatever. His voice is perfect for this style of music - a blend of folk elegance, country swagger, and punk/rock shrillness.

I liked the country influences he brought but that screech you mentioend is atrocious imo lol. Hoensty be damned. Songwriting is solid tho so prob like a 2.5 for me

I guess I just love when otherwise understated indie singers lose their shit because without the screams and shouts here this loses so much momentum

Lonesome As I've Been is a bit painful, tbh. The screams and shouts are easily some of the most engaging sections for me. Overall it's nice to some across an album with such variation in songwriting and dynamics. I'll check out the upcoming release for sure.

It's been pretty difficult for me to connect with any new music in the past 5-6 months, as I spend all my time listening to my punk and alt favorites while I teach myself to play them on the drums.

Bookends on this are very great and I dug I Was A Vulture a fair bit too. Bit iffy on some other tracks and the vox goes full-on dying cat at points, but the ideas are all there so they'll hopefully grow - nice spotlighting, Sowing!
Bonus points for having a good s/t track on s/t album

No love for Pink Lights, Johnny? You say dying cat, I say audacious!

Pink Lights is much lol, but I definitely see how it would be a highlight. Reminds me a bit of the more erratic moments on I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning in a mostly good way

It's already more divisive than I expected (based on the comments). I heard this and immediately knew I hit a gold mine. One of my new favorite bands without hesitation.

This is about as alt-country as The Dear Hunter.
