not implying that most people pirate, but i think people would first pirate/stream on bandcamp/stream on youtube

Yeah, for sure. Ideally there'd be a way to listen to music as easily/inexpensively as streaming that appropriately compensated artists.

Phil should’ve chopped this up into 40 second chunks and made that streaming dollar

The Glow Pt. 2 is my favorite work of Phil's but this is coming close to unseating Crow for the #2 spot. I love when he harmonizes his vocals and sprinkles in piano right after the distorted reverb - the atmosphere is appropriately rich following two very plain instrumental offerings with Mount Eerie.

I like how you pretend lost wisdom pt. 2 didn't come out in the chronology
"The last two albums he released under the Mount Eerie moniker were instrumentally skeletal"

I honestly forgot lol. Wasn't all that big on it, or Now Only for that matter.
Amended though, thanks for the catch.

I'd amend it further to "Much of his *recent* work under the Mount Eerie moniker" since Wind's Poem/Ocean Roar/Sauna had noise rock and avant-elements similar to this one

"I'm not putting this album on streaming services. I decided I deserve to be compensated."
*puts it on YouTube*

yeah that was the part I didn't quite understand
totally negates the point of keeping it off streaming services, in fact I'm pretty sure he gets no revenue for YT views (as opposed to minimal revenue streaming)
I already bought the album fwiw, but just saying

just listened to this and i don't think this works for me sadly. it just too drawn-out and structureless to me. hopefully it will make more sense on a later listen

the mild interest i had in checking this album out instantly dropped to zero when i learned it's not on spotify. like colton said, it basically doesn't exist.

that hurts to read tbh

yeah it's a shame when people tune out an artist because they're not on spotify/apple/wherever, but the artist has to know that's going to happen. It's 2020 not 1992. I stream a lot more than I used to but if I like it enough to want to listen to it more than 3-4 times, I try to buy it if I can swing it at the moment

Streaming services really wiping away everybody’s torrenting know-how, eh?
Like if you’re able, support Phil, but if the alternative is never listening just, like, do like you would’ve in 2014

i am totally like this usually unless it's something super urgent but i think the lyric video/photo montage is a pretty crucial part of this one tbh

i don't know if i care enough about phil's early recording days to finish listening to this thing
