i can see how the heavier parts could feel a bit out of place occasionally, but man everything here sounds so gorgeous to my ears i don't really mind haha

not so much out of place as just a tad uninspiring, especially in contrast to the folkier passages. but again, dat one riff...

Wasn’t what I was expecting but has plenty of crossover appeal. Really liked Tom Fleming’s guest vocals on Dirt.

Reminds me of Softspot - MASS which I would implore any fans of this to check out

Great review, I still have to listen to this but have high expectations since I loved the EP and one of the songs she released with Mono was brilliant too. Very nice live act as well

Just listened to this, what a good album. Simple and intimate like the EP, but somehow much more complex and mature musically.

Melt and Fearless are the immediate standouts

If I give this a go will I be drowned in sonic density?

To me it sounds like a combination of Emma Ruth Rundle and Within Temptation. Is that sacrilege? Untrue? A weird thing to say?

Don't know. But it feels like that sometimes.

Is that sacrilege?

^OFC

Seriously though what wdo you find that is similar to WT, anything else apart from female vocals? (AAW >>>>> WT vocals)

I feel this is what would happen if Amenra or COL went Folk lol

Is Sludge/Folk a thing yet?

The closer for instance reminds me very much of that melancholic, bittersweet vibe WT and Evanescence go for in so many of their 'ballads'. Fearless also reminds me of this, with the harsh vox guest spot.

Of course it isn't at all that they're clones of the aforementioned artists, but to me there's definite similarities. I could really see 15 year old Trif dig this A LOT when I was at the height of my WT-phase.

Yeah I get what you mean this is accessible of course.

But really I feel this is much more oppressing. I feel Chelsea Wolfe is a much closer similarity. And really most people I know that are into WT are more into power metal like things and not into Chelsea for example. While people that are into CW are more into doom and so on.. by my personal experience which is little

yeah i get the wt/evanescence comparisons in how grandiose this is, though songwriting/sound wise the chelsea wolfe/emma ruth rundle vibes are overwhelming

and 'Is Sludge/Folk a thing yet?'

if it weren't before it is now, hell yea!
