Really do understand the point of the review (and it's very well written btw!) but I think this just pure mindless fun.

Mindless isn't really a positive description tbh

It's not all I want, but it just fits at the moment, might sour on it later. And no, Earth Cris never di anything for me.

Also I don't get the EC comparison at all. This has a way more crossover vibe, it even has some Snapcase moments at times.

Always a time and place for some good fun music, just gonna have to agree to disagree over its quality. For what it's worth, I'd definitely recommend checking Trvss. Nice debut from last year. Noisy punk boys with a booming bass.

Thanks all for stopping by, appreciated as always

I never mentioned the qualifying of a good description. I only said it's not a positive attribute - not the same thing.

Trvss is meant to be rough and around the edges, some good hazy, heavy romps. The bass is a definite hero in pumping up those grooves.

"trvss is weak as hell compared to this, shit is produced horribly"

this is too sterile to pack any kind of punch

That's a big thing for me, yeah. I think this could have much more of a kick to it, but the quieted bass and the generally teeth-less guitars rob it of that factor. Tried both bandcamp and Spotify streams and I got the sense it wasn't hitting as hard as it potentially could.

don't like this production or vocally but the riffs are cool

I actually think the vocals are on point for this style. Riffs in first half can be solid but they seem to dry up rather quickly.

This has a bit of energy, sure, but whatever character it has feels borrowed from acts that did it better. It sorely needs its mix to be boosted as well for an extra punch.

FWIW, I really didn’t care too highly for Rorschach; Protestant was decent, I’ll give it that much...

I'm usually not AS big on the classic metalcore sound, but Protestant is a good pick from that era
