This is really hard for me to love for some reason. So far it's honestly the lowest I think I've rated a Fallon project

This is some gloriously corny whiskey and tears old school country shit and I'm here for it

ngl, I think my appreciation for old country has a lot to do with Brian/TGA

I should check TGA but I do not have a good track record with folk punk

oh wuuuut you haven't?! just try the first track on The 59 Sound (Great Expectations). That's the best place to start. If you don't like it, you don't need to bother with the rest of their stuff

They're not really folk punk tbh
Great Expectations is their best song

agreed on both points

They're more on that "heartland" rock side of folk punk, not quite Johnny Hobo.
Though I'd be there for that.

I am astounded when people don't think 1930 is their best song.

This is starting to grow on me a little. Even at his worst, Fallon just keeps bringing me back.

my love for the horrible crowes album eclipses everything else hes done but all the gaslight songs listed are admittedly top tier gaslight songs

I have a soft spot for Great Expectations as it was the song that got me into them and I love singing along to it. I also have a big soft spot for film noir and heres lookin at you kid. 1930 is also killer. If anyone has their live at reading performance from 2015, they opened with have mercy and at the end, Brian kinda makes up a third verse and man it is powerful.

idk why handwritten was the first one i heard but 45 and howl hooked me so so hard that theyve become my go to favorite gaslight songs ever since. really makes me wish they were both on an album of all bangers as good as those two, but the rest of handwrittens still pretty good so w/e. 59 sound rules hard tho and definitely tga's best all the way through, but i like every fallon album including get hurt
dont think ive ever heard have mercy tho ill definitely have to dig that up
