Per the originality - This has that wonderful thing where, even though you can pick out each influence, it still really is unique. That's what I really enjoy, it doesn't follow a typical path and pulls you along with it.
Even though the vocals aren't my favorite, BCKYRD is still one of my favorite songs. The lyrics are so fucking good and it's the best blend of everything that's going on

I actually quite like the vocals on the track lol

Yeah dislike might not be the right word lol. It’s tricky because I think they fit the song pretty well, but it falls victim to where it is on the track list. Like on it’s own it’s my favorite song, but by the time we hit it I’m just a little over it lol

"mix the different aspects of the genre really successfully." agree hard.
The production was such a success, I really like the vocal. It does sound good.

fucking love this record, it has been a great fun but sadboi record to help me through a breakup. such a step up from the debut as well, though i'm not sure if i like any song on here as much as i love armadillo shells

2020 has officially killed any interest I ever thought I might have in emo. This goddamn affected vocal style is just the worst.

"This goddamn affected vocal style is just the worst"

I'd probably like this more if i 1) hadn't seen this band multiple times live, and 2) hadn't talked to the vocalist
they just always rub me the wrong way

'affected' I guess in the sense of overly-emotional? Which yeah, that's no an easy sell, they can be seen as over-dramatic, especially in this case.

yeah i think it's more effective here than TMP has been lately, perhaps because of the second vocalist offering a contrast

Which brings me to another complaint i have for this, the vocal trade-offs seem to have died down and its mostly just the one guy. this one is catchier but i actually think the songwriting was better on Pilot.
