Willie have you ever checked Extol ?
I think I did a long time ago, but I can't remember them. They're another Christian Metal band; right?

Yes.

I'll check them out again. Religious bands don't bother me as long as it's not too blatant (whether it's Satanic, Christian, or something else... if the lyrics are tunnel visioned on the one topic, I tend to lose interest).

The lyricism is fine.

Glad to hear it.

"They're another Christian Metal band; right?"
As with Believer, that's not their defining tag, for me at least. They are just very good experimental metal, and somewhat Believer-influenced. You should check Synergy for their thrashy side, and Undeceived (more black/death inclined).

Will do. I think I was reccomended them by Last.fm way back when because I was on a Circle of Dust kick. They're not similar at all except for the loose Christian affiliation.

Since your an Anacrusis fan I think you will dig some of the stuff on Synergy, although Undeceived may be more accessible overall

Riffs. Fucking riffs.
T/t slays. The mid/end slow riff on Blemished Sacrifices is unforgettable.

Bumped this to a 4.

I may bump this down to a 3,5. After listening to so many Prog/Tech Thrash from the late 80s and early 90s I feel this has been done way better many times by other bands. Nice effort though. They would get way better over the years. I give this a 3.7 to be more accurate. The second half of the album is a 4 tbh, but the first is a 3,5 so...
Btw Extol flies above any christian themed band imho. Those guys are something special. They are one of my fav bands ever actually.
PS: Shadow of Death is the absolute best track here and Extol covered it very nicely

Idk about above any other, there are plenty at this level. Mortification, Extol, Tourniquet, Theocracy, My Epic all come to mind

I misread and thought you said Believer instead of Extol. In any case just swap the two and it's still how I feel.

Yeah, Theocracy are amazing indeed. I also like very much many other christian themed bands. Some names coming to my head: Drottnar, Crimson Moonlight, Slechtvalk, Pantokrator, A Hill to Die Upon, Kekal, Frosthardr, Seventh Angel... It's just that Extol are very special for me. Their music is so unique and brilliant Ive always had a very soft spot for them.

Yeah, no doubt that they are something special. That's a great list of bands as well, Crimson and Slechtvalk in particular for me. What I've heard of Kekal and Panto is great too.
