New one is better. A little more graspy and less cranberries.

new one doesn't have 'War' - notion denied

Album is solid, but I've listened to so much of this genre that this strikes me as inoffensive. She's a beast though.

I just watched a video of them playing live for the first time and I had no idea she is also the drummer

First half of this album still goes haaaaaaard. War is still a highlight. Then it kind of low-key tapers off a little
Still, Unison was a consistent and ‘mature’ release, but this remains their best. Holds up v well despite some minor gripes

and yeah, I’ve mentioned this before, but the vocalist being the drummer is impressive, but definitely damaged their live potential for me. I wanted to see more jumping around etc. from her, especially during their more energetic songs (obviously couldn’t do that very often).

What really does it for me is the final "unleash your war". After some of the most emotionally intense stuff I've listened to lately, it just ends with such beautiful reassuring softness. First listen I have of this group, and it's pretty mind-blowing stuff!

It’s one of the few bands where their most popular song is absolutely their best. I’d say it’s between War and Sugar Dragon, but that live in studio version of War has me leaning toward that track.
Stef’s vocals are absolutely fucking heart wrenching, the guitars feel frenetic as hell and the rhythm section just has this insane sense of urgency. They’re playing their hearts out in this performance: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=EBRYSlKDlws
Also truly insane that this song was in R6 Siege. I’m glad it’s getting exposure but damn, it’s a song about the cycle of violence and endless war that’s brought about from mankind and Siege is pretty much just all about the glorification of violence and war.
Very excited to see these guys headline in September

I didn't really like sugar dragon from my first listen. I'll be spinning it more, but it seems to me that it doesn't really justify its runtime enough
