the climax of Consciousness.exe (who knew Lord Mantis could be so melodic?), those kind of hilarious but still disgusting and awesome vocal noises in the middle of Damocles Falls, and the sax on Hole are some of my favorite things.

The melody on Qliphotic Alpha is also quite interesting and somewhat unexpected.

Yeah I d hope some more love for this from sputs, next to me, only Claire Q. gave a 4.2 (because he can lol). It prob suffers for being the most accessible album from the nastiest of bands...but songwriting is something to value here...although opener and Fleshworld were like immediate faves, God's Animal, Qliphotic Alpha and Hole do stick hard m/ huge tracks fs

Yes, it's their most accessible album to date, but still far from mainstream. The vocals remain badass as always, and there's always a harsh surround in each song, even in the acoustic track.

The vocals are so good. I love the ridiculous distortion

Don’t like this band, but I’m enjoying this record so far.
Decent review, but I have to disagree with your assessment that Slugdge are somehow a sludge/stoner rock band (or even have elements of said genres).

I think they have, especially in the debut. It's not unreasonable that you're enjoying this album, even though you don't like the band. UDC has a broader approach than previous albums.

I disagree on slugdge too...but maybe the dedut has some idk..I thought you were going to mention Full of Hell. Def one pf those hybrids that you fancy...and very sludge based.
