In The Signal Fire... Howard certainly isn't the lone lead. Only at the end of the chorus loops you can hear the volume of his voice on the sides of the mix coming through. Disappointed we mostly got Jesse's try-hard belting again, even on the "chosen one" song. (difference most obvious @2:35.. jesse signature belting/pressing followed by actual howard cleans)
I also don't understand why Adam didn't check Howard when it comes to his screams. Man that's just basics. Nothing wrong with his tone, but lack of pronunciation. Production error! Howard has a tendency to do that, even in the EoH days. This take is just the terminal stage of what once gave his screams some character.
The production in general sounds less and less inspiring. Coming down from legendary to casual weak/less-bite/less-meat/less character rail-guided metal band sound over the years. Tweaked the sound until there is nothing human left in it. Time for a hard reset!

So far this is as bad as s/t 2. They aren't even trying anymore.

nostalgia has a lot to do with this but I think the 09 s/t is very overhated. some good guitar leads and catchy choruses on there

Never Again is great, the rest ranges from okay (Reckoning, Light in a Darkened World) to terrible (Starting Over, Forgotten).

hey, Starting Over owns. first KsE song I ever heard and by extension the song that got me into metal, period

Really? My first KsE song was My Curse, actually. It was love at first listen. As Daylight Dies is just so damn good, including the four bonus tracks on the reissue. Might actually be my favourite KsE.

As Daylight Dies was my first Killswitch album (and still my favorite) and the first metal album I bought. but at the time I only bought it because the 09 self-titled wasn't out yet. it was hearing Starting Over on the radio that made me interested in checking them out.
kind of a misleading introduction, needless to say. I bought As Daylight Dies without hearing anything else and when the opener kicked in I was like "oh golly, oh heck, what did I just buy"

I actually used to hate the opener, because it was too damn heavy and didn't feel as melodic as the rest. Now I think the opening riff is one of the best harmonised riffs in metal ever.

Not even gonna bother with this.
Band has been stale post-ADD.

Man I honestly don't get all the fucking love for As Daylight Dies, but I'm assuming it's nostalgia cause the songwriting has nothing on End of Heartache or AOJB

Daylight has best vocal performance though.

Daylight has some of their best singles for starters.

yeah objectively and personally. Daylight is the better album. Even if it isn't as hook heavy as Heartache

Heartache and Alive... trump Daylight, still rules though.

Commenting on an online forum to state that I don't care for anyone's negative opinion toward this record, doesn't by default mean the opposite.
