Death Squad Anthem was a horrendous effort in my opinion, I liked the second half of the album enough to give this a three even though the first half was super meh.

as I listen to it more I'll have to agree, second half is much much better than the first.

The album is good, not great, but there's some enjoyable tracks.
The last 3 tracks are the best though.

Shame about the average, but the album art is one of this year's best I think

worst album but they haven't been good since The Adversary so who cares

"The last 3 tracks are the best though."
Everybody knows that Hate it's their best and more interesting record by a large margin, but yeah, last few tracks are really solid

Yeah, the cover art it's pretty badass, probably their best along with Hate and Dear Desolation

"worst album but they haven't been good since The Adversary so who cares"
excuse me? "the adversary" is their second weakest effort

Liked Hate and Holy War, but couldn't get into other stuff that came after HW.
|

HW and DD are way too predictable and boring imo

@TheClansman95: Sure, if you like the extreme metal equivalent of Kevin Churko drum samples blasting through your eardrums with nothing but lows from CJ McMahon.

Surprised by the reception here, I thought this was pretty sick. Avg is too low

I've had a couple of listens to this now and a little unsure. There's definitely some good moments and one couldn't say they're not producing heavy music or softened up so to speak (in the vein of parkway drive). It just feels like maybe they're running out of ideas. After the last album where there was a clear Behemoth vibe I felt like this next album could have some promise to it. They seem to be stuck between the deathcore and death metal spectrum at the moment but it's all just a bit monotonous for me.

Weird.
I don't think this is THAT bad. I have to numb myself out of the lyrics though.

What about the riffs in Hate, Holy War and DD? Or the crazy breakdowns? And honestly I have no problem with the production, the drumming (which is stellar) or CJ's vocals tbh
