I'm gonna explore the demo sessions and their solo projects once I listen to That's Why God Made The Radio, but I'm here to tepidly suggest Still Cruisin'. While Summer In Paradise is complete ass, Still Cruisin's first 7 tracks vary so wildly in quality that I actually had fun listening the first time. If nothing else, listen to Somewhere Near Japan

i am here to defend Light Album solely because once I bought into the absolute cheese yacht disco vibes, I was down for it although Sumahama still sucks

you can make a decent album out of the yacht rock trilogy tbh. they each have some standouts

my diane is all id keep from miu (which goes on love you in my discog) and santa ana winds is all id keep from keepin the summer alive but i managed to make a light album tracklist i thought was kinda okay ish that axed the disastrous track 6/7 combo and found homes for california feelin and santa ana winds. would be far from their best still though. dennis contributes far and away its best songs as love surrounds me and baby blue are legit incredible
i jammed like half of still cruisin and thought it was a complete fuckin mess to the point where kokomo was the best song i heard lol. i know people really like somewhere near japan but ehhh

while i'm out here caping for the yacht rock boys, regarding MIU, i'd keep Match Point of Our Love and the cover of Come Go With Me. I won't dare make a frankenstein album out of the trilogy because the production of all three are so radically different (MIU and KTSA are both radically different in feel but are equally sterile, whereas LA has a bit of life in it thanks to Bruce being involved)

funny enough you mention California Feelin' as that would be more at home on 15BO since it is from 1974/75
in keeping with the tradition of having zero regard for consistency in time period that plagued most of their albums of this period, this is my personal version of 15BO
California Feelin'
Had to Phone Ya (with extended intro sourced from the instrumental backing track)
It's OK (used the alternate mix for this)
TM Song (cut the skit out)
On Broadway
Rock and Roll Music (used the remix for this because the original mix for this song is unironically terrible)
Good Timin' (like California Feelin' and It's OK, sourced from the 1974/75 sessions)
That Same Song (so the ending is cut, the chorus is just repeated once and fades out and i think some backing vocals were thrown in)
In the Still of the Night
Just Once in My Life
Sherry She Needs Me (arguably the most out of place track but if they can get away with Susie Cincinatti and Good Time, this is not as egregious in comparison)
You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling

yea ngl the come go with me cover is kinda fun. at the very least it is too catchy to ignore. probably only heard it like two or three times but its been stupidly in my head the whole last few hours
and yeah good time on love you is kind of ridiculous lmao. amazing song though so im glad its on an album

depends which version of CGWM you're checking out, because the original MIU version is fine, but the 1981 version for Ten Years of Harmony is so much better lol

y'all gonna make me listen to the Mike Love era of this band for completionist sake aren't you

you definitely do not need to lol
the only album i kinda dig as is in that 78-92 window is bb85 and even that feels a little generous but i kinda like that album, even if it already would have sounded dated by 85 standards

if you are in desperate need of pure, unadulterated comedy, yes
