a great detour for them and expands upon some of the more textured sections they’ve explored on the previous two albums [2]

This is stellar, so sad it's got a 2.5 review ): Feel like it misses the point of what this is

Wouldn't really call this desert rock.. feel like the reviewer is definitely coming from a metalhead perspective considering their favourite part of the project is the one time we get riffs at the very end. For me this one demonstrates them maturing ever further as musicians and developing their confidence with more subtle, dynamic, jam-enfused sounds... if the next LP can marry this with say, the highs of Lore then we're in for their best album

"I wasn’t head banging the entire 37 minutes"

Is it me or there's something wrong when you demand to headbang to Elder nowadays (specially with this output)?

I'd like you to...although my guess is that you dig Lore and Reflections. Those early ones are more in stoner doom riffing tone...not sure its you alley...I def rec you Lore for next listen (as you can see from your song of the day's list :P)

This was my introduction to this band and i bought the album after the first listen.Exploring their back catalogue i can see why someone who was into them from day one would think this was a weak release as it is such a step change from their earlier material.Solid 4 for me though , looking forward to the new release in April.

I feel like this was them stretching their wings. Refresh mode. Judging from their new single, their next album isn't going to be as heavy as their previous... I'm a bit bummed by that, but it sounds like they're blending this sound and their previous pretty well.

"Sessions" means they were just chilling and came out with this moody instrumental piece - it's amazing I say.
