I've probably overplayed this album these past few weeks, but I've loved every second. At one point I thought The Interloper was the weak point, but it's quickly become one of my favorite tracks. Overall, not quite on the same level as my personal favorites from them (IAH and few), but still very solid.
Also, first post ever, wooooo

Totally agree with this one.

It Hates You is classic...and can't be beat. If you combine the best songs off the previous 2 releases (and this), you maaaaybe have an equivalent. But, sadly, this wasn't as good as I was hoping for.

This album is one of the most fun things I’ve heard this year. A nice mix of SOTP and few

It Hates You has some bangers (Don't Touch That Dial!) but IAH is pretty much wall to wall classic. Dismissing it as uninteresting scenecore means you're missing out on some fantastic material

The anecdote was about me dismissing the band/album 15 years ago. On revisiting the album I found that I quite liked it. :]

Ha! Naah, it's not your fault. I wasn't specific about my current feelings about IAH in the review. But liking White Bat pushed me to trawl through the band's back catalog and I've listened to everything except Suck Out The Poison in the past 2-3 weeks. IAH indeed holds up very well even if the vocals are occasionally a bit grating.

Fuck yes. I really enjoy this album. I think these guys are some of the most consistent in rock/metal today.

I didn't skip it! I just haven't gotten to it yet!

I haven't been able to get into any of their releases since It Hates You, which I love. They lean into their progressive tendencies more on that record, and the female vox on some of the tracks are top notch.

Oh man, if you like their southern rock tendencies, then you will love Suck Out the Poison, because they are in full effect. Guitar riffage for days. When it first came out, it threw people for a loop because Schuylar's voice changed so much from IAH. But, now 6 albums in, it doesn't sound weird at all. The guitar riffs are incredible. Attack of the Dungeon Witch is just amazing.

Suck Out the Poison is my favorite Schuylar vocal performance. I love how weathered he sounds, I think really adds something to the storytelling quality of his lyrics.

Yeah, I'm jamming it now and it's got everything I love about this one on it! I'm not super hot on the harshes though. They work sometimes, but there are several songs they appear on where I wish they didn't.
