Much better than Restarter. I have to disagree regarding your praise of Harmonicraft, though—to me, Meanderthal stands high as their opus. Overall, though, these guys (like their sister band Floor) are outstandingly consistent and, given their propensity for hooks and catchiness, should honestly be on the radio and selling out stadiums. I believe it was Brian Cook who said it first, but Torche is what “arena rock” would be in a just universe

they're def bridging the Miami scene between the shimmery hook-y indie and dank sludge we got going on

this is a solid album, but i miss the Torche that wrote songs like Across the Shields and Snakes Are Charmed, with really emotive, infectious hooks. the closest this album really comes is the title track

I feel that. Harmonicraft is my favorite by far. It has a feeling of joy that they haven't really replicated well since.

Sludge-pop? Now this is something I don't think I've heard about before.
Nice review, of course, and it certainly made me curious about what these fellas sound like.

"Anyone else think this album cover is extraordinarily bad?"
The artwork is ok. The s/t and Harmonicraft have some of the coolest artwork ever.

I like the album cover. As much as it aggravates my OCD, I respect these guys' unwillingness to commit to a particular visual aesthetic

Thanks for the kind feedback guys. I am loving this. I have a feeling this’ll end up in my top 10 for 2019

Riffs are cool but his voice reminds me of Maynard for some reason and it irks me

I'd personally say he sounds like a cross between Page Hamilton from Helmet and Deron Miller from CKY more than anyone else.

Listening now. A lot I like, and the production is great. But I find myself largely underwhelmed by the vocal melodies. And sometimes they try and hang a song on too scarce instrumentation. So not sure how positive I will be about this overall. Will definitely give it a couple more listens though.

"Admission" literally sounds like a shoegaze song, pretty interested in this.

Yeah idk, it just does, can’t explain it

Even at their best, Torche were never as good as the rest of the stoner juggernauts for me. Let's see if this'll change my opinion.

Ehh, If their older stuff didn't blow you away I strongly doubt that this will.
