Agreed, that was awesome

Loved the band's first 2 records, giving this a go right now

Definitely better than s/t, but still not as good as Golden Record. It's completely beyond me how that album is regarded as easily their worst.

never got that either, though before this came out and firmly took top spot GR was second behind WP for me. it's production could be better (those gang vocal whoa ohs on Knives... yikes) and so could the tracklist. but as far as the barebones music goes it's as raw and nasty an album I ever could have imagined them making, with some of AJ's most wrenching moments (y'all need to remember the bridge of Sins to start). I think that album is due a reappraisal

No love for Reach for the Sun? Easily my favorite along with this one
GR has some great highlights but just feels underwhelming as a whole. Will revisit soon tho!

it's a good debut and I like it, but find it getting samey and a little tiring by the time the last 3 songs are on. it's a little too clean and smooth as an album when I really enjoy this band's rougher edges (ironic saying this in the Mother Nature thread I know, but this album's a different beast)
Permanent Rain and Weathered are of course classics tho

Yeah, first listen left me impressed. Love the wistful emotions this is giving off. Dig the production too.

The debut is a bit samey but there’s something charming and effortless about it
Used to love War Paint too but not doing as much for me lately. Siren is a new standout tho. Might make a list of my favorite tracks by them cuz I’ve been on an epic binge for about 2 weeks now

Can't wait to check this. I've only heard Reach and War Paint but both were really solid.

Gonna take me some time to figure this one out. So far looks like the powerful bridges from RFTS are back. So far so good. RFTS/WP just resonated with me so well at release. I will always support this band, hope they keep it up.

I wish I could get into this, but it's so...monotonous to me. I like half of the songs? It's about par for them ig. =(

"I have an image in my head of The Dangerous Summer as careful craftsmen"
Good review but this made me laugh out loud. I have a soft spot for this band but they basically have written the same song over and over again for their whole career with varying levels of Grit.
If I found their s/t extremely bland and dull will this do anything for me?

I mean I pointed out in the review that that image was born out of listening to this album, which is entirely superior to the s/t and much more diverse than any other album they've released. so... yeah?

Entirety of review and every single comment discusses how different this album is to the rest of their stuff
“So does this bring anything new to the table”
