This album just made me want to go listen to the In Fear And Faith’s self titled. In fact that’s exactly what I did about halfway through it

This band has almost a cult like following around here. lol all their albums nearing 4.0 averages.
I very much enjoyed this album but it's still cheesy scene shit, which I unapologetically love when it's done well, but pretending it is anything else is silly.
The album has some surprise bangers but this is not their hardest album, not by a long shot.
A few songs on here are some of the best they've ever made but nothing even comes close to R.I.P and to be fair nothing on Demons came close to that either, but I wish they would have gone that route more instead of retreading old ground.

This is honestly pretty solid. Would’ve loved it four or five years ago

Basically everything apart from the chorus sounds the same in almost each song, mostly constant, lazy and uncreative 0-string strumming. Just comparing the intros or the bridges is enough to see the blatant lack of variation. The choruses themselves are also boring as hell for the most part. I‘d rate it a bit higher if it was their debut but after doing the same thing on all of their albums this is the pinnacle of lazy genericore and can‘t be overlooked anymore. They apparently ran out of ideas or aren‘t talented enough to play anything other than the same strumming pattern on each and every song.

I guess I just apply a different standard to this type of music because I don't really disagree with anything you said I just don't care if it's true. Catchy hooks and good vocals? Sign me up!
I think you are definitely not giving them enough credit with a 1.5 rating though. There's some interesting bridges scattered throughout and the overall musicianship is at least average.
I think they have a few songs on here like Calling All Crows, my personal favorite, that showcases a little bit of a different sound for them with a lot more atmosphere.

The hooks aren‘t even catchy but sound like worse copies from their last records (which I rated way higher).

Ok now I like this more again. This is actually my AOTY so far, but I really hope someone releases something better because this still isn’t anything special

better than initially thought but still disappointing and using the exact same basedriven riffs for the 4th album now when they aren't even distinguishable within one record is inexcusable at this point

I tried it again yesterday and still find it super weak.
Gotta disagree hard with the review. The lyrics may be dark but that's about the full extent of the "angry" that this album has. Nick hardly does any screaming, and it is absolutely not his best performance. The cleans are down to preference but I don't know how anyone could argue that his screams are better here than on the previous release. It's not even close. His vocal melodies ARE poppy a lot of the time. The lyrical content can be as dark as it wants to be, but very little about this album, sound wise, has any bite to it. The music isn't nearly as brooding or layered as Demons was. It's painfully simple riffing without the benefit of the atmosphere that Demons had.

This is one of those albums that grow on you the more you listen to it. My god are the hooks catchy tho.

Rated this a 5 because this is my personal 3rd favorite album of all time, although I won't argue that it is SOMEWHAT generic (however, generic isn't a valid criticism IMO if the album is still well written and pleasing to listen to).
Get Scared has been top tier in this genre since their debut album. I'm yet to hear another band in this genre put out such consistently good albums that are so much fun to listen to. If there is, please tell me because I'm desperate to discover new music.

I'm not really feeling this; kinda feels like a step down from Demons and Everyone's Out To Get Me.

I should lower my rating a bit. Probably their worst album but it isn't terrible or anything.

Yeah, it's kinda vanilla, by-the-numbers once you get down to it.

Makes sense. they had a decent run early on, now's the time to pack it up while you're still ahead.
