"is this like ne obliviscaris or hail spirit noir"

"Neither really, though def. closer to Hail Spirit Noir."

Maybe so, but it's a very poor comparison. WOSO is light years ahead of them.

This is honestly one of the most boring things I've ever heard. It's entirely competent, but nothing matters with all of the flourish they put into each song. There are layers and layers of sounds to dig through, but why? Infinite Gate Opening is a prime example. 7 minutes with no purpose behind it. It's just there. It's the sonic equivalent to a donut-ham-hamburger wedged between two steaks and a half-pound of avocado. Yeah, there's a lot to digest, but it's not good and it's certainly not interesting beyond the passing thought of, "yup, there it is." The absolute superfluousness of it all is, frankly, nausating and I'm kinda upset at myself for listening to the whole thing. The only reason I didn't give this a straight-up 1 is because I feel like they had good intentions, but they just had a couple aneurysms in between acid hits that prevented them from making any good decisions.

I'm a little inclined to agree with rafalafa. I think I wanted to like this more than I did because of the cool concept and the band consisting of members of other bands I like to an extent, however this just ends up meshing into a gigantic blob of sounds that are cool but don't really go anywhere. there are certain redeeming moments, but I just ended up being exhausted having listened to this. bit of a disappointment really.
