Oh goodness, the next project could be absolutely anything. Knowing Taro, he'll just use the fame as a platform for a bitter troll premise that people will end up lapping up more than he expects (I'm definitely down for Drakengard IV, anyway lol)
I considered reviewing Yume for a while (and hopefully will sometime), but I feel that it'll either have to be a pretty cursive summary of its arty concept/heavy use of interludes/skittery math pop makeup or a really in-depth unpicking. Former could be okay, but the latter would be v heavy to write so I'm not exactly pumped for it right now aha
I mainly do film scores nowadays, used to write a lot more but I'm way more perfectionist now and don't like to release anything unless I'm 110% happy with it - but with films, my threshold is lower so I get more music done though them. My main page is here if you're interested, need to get a new score up there soon now I think about it ;] https://nightmarepuppy.bandcamp.com

Oh, and the key change was from the CHILLS section midway through The Sound of the End, where the vocals go up a minor third and then back down again for the ascending line that leads back into the battle theme. That whole piece generally fucks me up

Love some of the noisy swells from some of your tracks on bandcamp! really cool style. You work on indie films and the like?
Yeah whatever it is yoko taro wants to do im game. Really hoping for a tease this e3 from him. WOuldnt mind if he worked with platnium again. As long as he continues to have Keiichi Okabe and Emi evans music than ill be stoked. And yeah i know the exact moment you mean from The sound of the end. What a moment that is.

I work in theatre, not film, but I've got enough actor pals to make low/zero budget indie film stuff happen when the opportunity arises haha! I think Taro and Okabe are a firm duo at this point, can't see them splitting after Automata...
Also general prod to anyone who digs this to check out Advantage Lucy's debut (Fanfare). It's a bit sunnier and less quirky than this but is super rewarding for similar reasons

E3 passed. No mention of Yoko taro's next game feelsbad. But yeah him and okabe are a certainty for me whatever the next game is. God I cant wait. Both Nier's music is transcendent

I feel like Taro probably gives zero fucks about early E3 teasers at this point and would rather go for rogue spontaneous publicity tbh. As long as that score has time to develop...
Feel like a new Soutaisei fix, think it's finally time to check out Town Age

I still think it will be ready for next e3. Square wants it to be a huge presence after how successful automata was. Also hoping they give him all the budget and team he needs to realize his crazy beautiful dreams.

New live album looks absolutely dope

so the super expensive box set edition of the new live album just arrived at my proxy yesterday and they're telling me that it weighs 1.6kg (3.5 pounds) net. was not expecting that. sounds like the packaging is gonna be fuckin sick.

Damnnn just seen this, have you broken into it yet??
|

hell yea i did. the LPs sound epic--clean, crystal clear but still plenty of presence, damn fine pressing--and they come in a swanky triple gatefold sleeve. so happy they did it justice. would highly recommend the standard 3xLP edition to fans; box set edition is only worth it if you rlly want the t-shirt too (the box set edition is just the standard edition and t-shirt packaged in a fairly unremarkable box).

it's pretty fuckin great. sometimes i feel like such effects and programming-heavy bands dont translate well live, but these guys are like made for it. it might be because the production on the studio albums is general kinda dry whereas this live album has a very palpable sense of atmosphere. the whole thing has its own consistent vibe running throughout that makes it more than just a collection of songs from some studio albums being performed live; it's like a really memorable, singular album on its own.
