Great review Sitar! I'm somehow overwhelmed by the sheer length of that closer. This guy is a madman.

Thanks Dewi! And yeah, you're not alone when it comes to Singularity. I've heard it several times and I'm STILL picking out stuff in it.

I really enjoyed reading this haha. Devy’s over the top nature doesn’t do too much for me these days but he’s a genuinely great dude and I’m happy he’s still doing his thing

i think singularity will be similar to planet of the apes, that song really takes a while to appreciate fully

Wow, a review with footnotes. Bringing some class to the site, eh? Haven't checked this album out yet, but I am planning to.

Great review Sitar, enjoyed it a lot! I feel like you managed to capture the ongoing discussion in the thread perfectly. This may be one of the most divisive album reactions I've yet seen, not completely unexpected though.

I take it this is a grower then? Seemed to be lukewarm opinions at first...

I don't know if it is really. From what I've seen so far people seem to either love it to begin with (then it only gets better) or hate it from the get go.

great review man. this album does nothing for me though.

I also find it difficult to accept that the matrix is 20 years old this year too.

Yeah I fucking loved this immediately - but I am liking it more and more each listen, so in that sense it's a grower

I was a hardcore player of the Matrix MMO. True story. There were literally dozens of us.

Still digesting this album.

Always wanted to play the MMO, but I never had a pc good enough to play it at the time. Doesn’t Morpheus get killed off?

The last 4 minutes of Singularity are euphoric. Definitely my AotY so far.

Singularity is great, but I dunno about the rest of the album. Feels kinda like it should've just been Singularity and the rest is a little... forced? Still digesting but that's my feels at the moment.

And yeah Morpheus died before Chapter 2, if I remember right. Game ran about 5 years or so. Story was cool if a bit flawed and the take on letting you interact live with official named characters like Morpheus played by a live events team was an innovation that hasn't been matched (probably due to lack of profitability). But the immersive concept basically ruined all other MMO gaming for me.

Also I totally expected "Middle Aged Man" to be a cover of the SNL Sketch theme song (https://www.nbc.com/saturday-night-live/video/middle-aged-man/n9951)

I was disappointed.

Empath has really grown on me, but I did enjoy it from the start. However, songs like Sprite and Why? have become songs I genuinely enjoy, while at first I was a bit iffy on them
