Only heard Rhodonite and Grief so far. Kinda had a Slint Spiderland vibe to it, definitely has me eager to check out the rest.

the trumpet on that song is great, I'll check it out but I haven't dug an entire album since Somewhere at the bottom of the River. Jordan's vocals are a bit too much for a full album in my experience. But I guess i'm in the minority since some people regard him as one of music's best vocalists.

To be fair, I may be the only one who thinks he's one of the best

this is a really great interview that i wish i had read before writing this review. at one point dreyer says he doesn't actually believe in the power of crystals, which was nice to read.

If by incredible you mean boring and lifeless then yes it was incredible.

i will forever defend rooms of the house. i think that scaled-back, introspective sound worked so well for them, and it has a lot of my favorite dreyer lyrics. and they are just the grooviest band ever. i could listen to woman (in mirror) drone on forever

I'm curious, what do you think the standouts are here Chan

i think 'fulton street i' is my favorite. there isn't a track i dislike at all.

i actually think 'footsteps at the pond' is a standout too despite the flak it caught when they released it as a single.

butt.

So many songs on Rooms are so far from lifeless...I'll never understand that criticism. Hudsonville, First Reactions, Stay Happy There, The Child We Lost, etc. And those dynamics in Woman Reading...

splitsville as well. that's one of their catchiest songs.

hudsonville is a contender for best la dispute tracks imo.

Idk, nothing about the vocalist sounds particularly special to me, but he does a good enough job.

omg yes. i just recently 100% the godmaster dlc... probably the hardest thing i've done in a game in recent memory lol. so glad the sequel is gonna be its own thing, i think they were in talks a while ago to just add hornet as a playable character in the world and nothing more.
