Appreciate the kind words both of y'all. Said it many times already but definitely jam Modern Frenetics, entirely different beast that one is.

Listened to both earlier and yeah the LP is a little better, LOVE how prominent the bass is, and the clean vox are integrated really well

Like the look of the album cover. Looks like it would make a cool phone backround.

Fun little ep, lots of potential, but lots of ways they could improve their execution though. The mathy, heavy aesthetic really does just feel like an aesthetic in places, rather than the music actually being ridiculous and heavy and hard to follow, like your dillingers and your fronteirers

Dare I say it feels a bit directionless too? Probably too mean, but I get that vibe.

I think directionless sensations are part of the intent tbh. It's all about that super-techy-squealcore stuff, but it's less remarkable here since it doesn't feel as composed--to your point there--and when it IS composed, it sounds like a diet version of a band that already did it.

Tried to stress it in my writing, but I didn't want to make comparisons; the way the album is made, however, makes such an endeavor feel impossible.

Def check the debut if you haven't, it's a much different beast.

Their vocalist is kind of a try hard weiner but I still think musically it’s solid.

Some of those cleans came straight outta Hell Songs, made me do a double take

Can I get a depressed dab for contemporary architecture?

Eh, I see your point, but like your average dillinger /

mathcore album has better pacing and structuring as a whole than this. This, they throw their ideas at you and then it fizzles out unceremoniously. I suppose there's only so much they can fit into 12 mins and how much cogency you can achieve, but idk, it jarred with me

Yeah, I gotcha. Just trying to see what sticks I reckon. Fine for an EP to an extent but I hope it doesn't signify a new direction overall.

That closing bit is one of the best things I've read from you dude. Really good write-up.
