haha i don't mean it in a pretentious way (there are a couple songs on here i like)
i mean it's depressing cause the type of shit people on sput pay attention to is like the complete antithesis of my taste in hip-hop so there's barely ever anything i like being talked about or even noticed. it's unfortunate cuz then i try and check the sites shit and i end up hating it and being captain wet blanket

lol it's cool I didn't mean to come off snarky, I think a lot of my taste in rap is formed from group mentalities of people I've hung out through my lives. Like every group of friends has a vibe of hip hop they fuck with so it's all rubbed off on what I look for and listen to. So it's hard online cause you're ranking the entirety of the genre on sites like these

when i was in highschool it was like that and i suppose i was a lot more open minded about hip hop back then tbh

Yeah exactly, most of my taste rap is based off of high school and college days cause thats when I listened to 95% of the hip hop I know lol

I'd agree that this website's taste in hip hop is depressing using the fact that this album is short of 150 ratings...
And I don't mean to criticize anyone's opinion on the album but the fact that a guy relatively new in the game actually having his own style and doing something different from his peers gets no attention here
|
| |
That's a lot of ratings for this site relatively speaking lol. Also I have no idea how you think this guy "has his own style" or is doing something different from his peers

Comparing to mainstream rappers he's bellow avg.
The way he changes his flow constantly, you can tell he writes with his delivery in mind, I specially like that. His style is super enunciated, changing his delivery constantly while being able to rap triple-time but never riding it so long it gets boring, his beat selection is also pretty great imo.
But like I said, it's fine if you don't like what he's doing

Hes got a unique voice (like kendrick on helium lol) I'll give him that, but he bites some people throughout here (Vince staples comes to mind) and he kind of bounces between two pretty trodden grounds imo, one I dont like and one I do

I get it, he did resemble Kendrick a lot for me on first listen but I feel like he's very distinctive, is the side you dislike tracks like Tiied and Skrawberries? Because those I don't care for at all, his "girl talk" is not my thing at all
|
| |
I'll have to go back through the tracklist and pick em out but off the top of my head the joey badass and method man track is a standout

Went back to this. Not a bad track in the bunch. Between a 4-4.5. It’s better than his first for sure

People just now finding out about Bruuuh are in for a treat.
|

The picture I have with this guy is a gem. On the one hand I look like the nerdiest guy in the world but on the other hand I’m utterly towering over him and i think I’d rather have that be the case than vice versa. lol. Not a huge fan tho

JID could be really good, but he hasn't really discovered how to make an album yet imo. He has a ton of individual tracks that are dope, but I never really take the time to listen to his albums.
Did you listen to his "Bruuuh" remix with Denzel yet Robertsona?
|
| |
The Bruuuh remix is great. He made Denzel look like an amateur on it. This guys got an unreleased song with Kenny Mason that sounds soooo fuckin hard I hope he drops it soon.
