This was a very disappointing album. Nothing stands out with the exception of the opening number, the whole album just feels lifeless without any sort of emotion or energy. It's a relaxing experience but there's just nothing to it, I could easily name several late 60's/early 70's folk albums superior to this.

Pure masterpiece! And when you mentioned line up you forgot to add Ken Forssi. At the time Love was five piece band.

When I first heard this, I fell in love with it instantly, but I kind of killed it when I listened to the full album 5000000 times in the next few weeks.

One think I disagree with the review in is the album dipping in the middle. I actually think that 'The Red Telephone' is the album's best song, and 'Maybe The People Would Be The Times Or Between Clark And Hilldale' isn't far behind. If anything I'd say that the album dips at the end.

I think The Zombies' 'Odessey and Oracle' would be a better comparison than 'Piper At The Gates Of Dawn' too, though it is more poppy, less rock. This Message Edited On 05.15.08

One of the greatest albums of any genre ever. Love's first three albums probably all in my Top 20 albums ever list, just an absolutely amazing group that's still CRIMINALLY underrated.

Great review as well.

This is one of my favourite albums, I even did a review of it once on a website along with one or two other albums.

All of it is great, but if I had to pick a favourite song it would be Old Man.
