god i used to jam that song when i was like 12 and didn't even realize how edgy those lyrics were

“Theyre a stupid rap rock band that 10 year old edgelords like listening to and their lead singer has a solo project and he was butthurt that people on sput didnt like his stupid album so he told his fans on facebook to 5 it.”
Lmao did that last part actually happen?
|
| |
yes it did, look at the ratings for Deuce's "Nine Lives"
a ton of 5's and a ton of 1's to counterbalance it
|
| |
Used to jam tf out of these guys back in middle school... not sure how much they still hold up though

Lmaooooooooo “Big Deuce”... dude’s always been a fucking tool but I think he’s much better than the guy who replaced him
|
| |
Danny's on the only albums I even halfway dig still, so there's that
|
| |
I feel like Danny makes a lot of the stuff I liked on AT kinda unlistenable because he really fucking sounds like he got the gold ticket to hollywood on American Idol. Plus they really cut down on the screams when Danny joined which took away a lot of their edge
|
| |
I guess his tone's too poppy for you?

Album Rating: 2.0
This band was cool in 2009
|
| |
I've always preferred Danny, even when I liked these guys more. I think if they drop the party bullshit entirely they could be semi enjoyable again.
|
| |
They were never cool. We just thought they were when we were too young to know any better.

Maybe but I was a sucker for rap rock. There's lots of good options now for that but there wasn't too many half decent outfits back then.
|
| |
Yeah, after all there's nu metalcore which is largely hit or miss. For every Fire from the Gods or Afterlife there's probably a dozen Emmure/Attila/Sworn In clones.
|
| |
Not too poppy. Deuce was poppy too, but he actually felt like a full on member and contributed to the “attitude” that attracted me to the band. Danny is like the equivalent to the no-name people Eminem gets to sing hooks on his newer albums. He just seemed like a placeholder (at least on AT and a good amount of NftU... I was out of my phase way before the next one came out).
|
| |
NFTU blew even when I was 13-14, although I didn't mind We Are. And yeah I can see what you mean there about Danny vs Deuce.
|
| |
Honestly considering revisiting American Tragedy just to see if I still actually dig it. I bought that shit like six years ago, lol. I know Swan Songs is only going to have like two or three tracks I still dig.
|
| |
Jamming random tracks from the first three albums and yeah most of NftU is trash. Dead Bite still holds pretty nicely tho
|
| |
@Alex: I remember expecting Swan Songs 2.0 and getting a bunch of plodding, mid-tempo trash and an underwhelming "party" song that was Pigskin. We Are, From the Ground, and Lion were the only tracks I dug even back then, so yeah... an ex of mine loved Dead Bite though.
|
| |
I treated Lights Out like the Story of Adonis back in the day.
Yeah From the Ground is still kinda cool.
