Yeah, Santana is an excellent example. Besides, he is a Latin guy. So, there's nothing strange on that. Apparently strange was Moraz which is a Swiss guy. But according with Wikipedia it seams that he worked with the Brazilian ballet and became interested in percussion. It seams also he travelled to Colombia, Bolivia, Chile and Argentina for inspiration. So, later he arrived to Brazil where he gathered a unit of 16 percussionists to play on this album. So, everything has an explanation, as strange as it may seem.

Thanks for the info, mate. So Moraz has a good background regarding Latin music. He probably touched these influences again in some other of his albums. It makes me think of Peter Gabriel's inspiration for Africa. It shows on Security and subsequent albums, and when he sings Biko, it's also related to Africa. He also had an African collaborator named Youssou Ndour.
I find my 3/5 to be a pretty low score. Will try to fix it.

I never thought that, but you're right. We can really see many common points on both artists, as influences. It's true that Moraz was influenced by Latin American music and Gabriel was more influenced by African music. But, due to the clonialism, we may say that both influences are clearly crossed in both cases. Besides we all live in a globalized world, and this isn't a recent phenomenon, really. The Portuguese discoveries and the Roman Empire did that before, both in their own way.

I'm not sure if there's a misunderstanding;
I didn't mean that they both have similarities in music. Moraz' Latin influences only makes me think of Peter Gabriel because Gabriel was also influenced by the music of another country.
It's possible that both of their music have similarities, but I haven't noticed it yet ;) Sorry, if i'm confused...

Ok, it's a misunderstanding. What I wanted to say, like you, is that both were influenced by different styles of music of the country and continent were they born. I really don't think that there are many similarities between the music of both too.
Now, I think the things are clear.
