Well I liked this one a lot...the grunge tone over the psy is very cool. The thick low guitars match really nice with the gal's smooth voice. Nothing surprising overall agreed, but its damn satisfying...

Edit - clearly is the first album I listen from these guys.

Gotcha x)

I also thought this one was good enough, like no urge to go through the rest of the discog. But now you mentioned it I may have to.

That is why i always thought that their second album is their best for me. Not so much because of its musicianship but because of the atmosphere, the mood, the sense of claustrophobia. It is a really unique record.

And then you have their debut, which i really enjoyed listening to back in 2013, again for its atmosphere and the riffs that conjure this feeling. It makes you feel like you're walking in a gloomy, rainy forest, waiting for sth bad to happen and it also has all these post-dopethrone electric wizard influences, it really makes the music sound like a soundtrack of a b-rate horror movie. If you're into EW you"ll get that reference.

Soma, on the other hand, offers a different kind of sensation. This time around, your walk in the forest is accompanied by a layer of haze so thick you find it difficult to breathe. You gasp for some air but you can't find your way out of the forest.

And of course, you have a little acoustic song called evergreen. It's possibly my favorite Soma moment. Superb-melancholic song.

I hope you"ll check out these albums, you may then understand all this gibberish.

On a side note, i think it's incredible how music makes you create images of dread and horror in your own mind.

yap its incredible that feeling agreed, TKS for the input....I guess I'll have to check those 2 first records as well then, since I'm a Dopethrone fan (not that much on the genre or EW discog)

BTW Their acoustic songs are great

If you like that class B movie thing, should try early Hooded Menace (all of them except the new one, wich is a bit more shiny gothic) or Acid Witch (pure Halloween delirium) m/

ok this is kind of "one trick monkey" band, that tried to evolve to a certain identity album to album, instead of innovating much.

Each of their albums have similar structure in songs and overall construction. I tend to appreciate this one more though, it feels more grungy to me (good in this case). I know sludge/stoner fans may not appreciate this aspect, but I really dig the fact her vocals are very on front on this one. This last factor enhances what sets them apart from most bands in the genre.

That's what I like about this one. Dortha's voice dominates everything.

Never checked out this band until some tracks from this popped in my Pallbearer-related playlist. Can't remember which, but the songs flowed nicely and production was spot-on for this style with plenty of fuzz for the rhythm guitars, leads up high and plenty of space for the drums.
