Gonna jam this when I can. Haven’t liked anything since their self-titled, which I adored.

“It’s hard to be religious...” is definitely talking shit about their old singer.

@Spec unfortunately this is what Derek had to say about the meaning of that song ... eye roll
“I would say it’s a little bit more angry than anything we’ve done before. I wrote it shortly after the 2016 presidential election, when Trump won. I was just kind of horrified something like that was even possible – not that it’s all directed towards him, necessarily, but that’s kind of the mindset I was in. However, it’s not all dark. There is, at least to me, a hopeful outlook towards the future and trying to appreciate what we have.”

Yeah, a 4.5 was probably a little too high.

Really dig the first track, but the second one has such a clumsy and awkward hook.

I'm gonna pretend It's Hard to Be Religious is actually about their old singer, then

''It must be about as hard as forgetting your best friends
You said we’d leave no one behind
To prove what you had wasn’t dead inside
But we know, yea everyone knows what a selfish prick you’ve become''
That is some serious shade if it's indeed about Jason.

yeah, I call bullshit on the song not being about Jason (or at least about a close friend, don't buy the Donald Trump thing at all). they likely just don't want to bring back unnecessary drama. if they they say "yeah it's about our old singer" it would escalate online pretty quickly, especially these days
but whatever. the hooks on this thing are insane. makes me feel like a kid again

I wouldn't be surprised if it was about Jason, his divorce really fucked him up and influenced him to make some REALLY bad decisions

and now he writes Christian worship songs as Lncstr. Profoundly strange to hear that voice belting out praise songs instead of pop-punk heartbreak.
I'm pretty comfortable ranking this as the third-best MP album.

I don't like this band the way I used to do. Black Lines was good if only because the Brand New influence was strong, finding out Mike Sapone produced it made a lot more sense. Seeing that Feldmann got his hands on this does not give me high hopes (see: California), but I'll give it a shot.

feldy produced this? wow usually i can like tell his sound but this just kind of sounds like a less big self titled production wise
i guess shoutout being the best feldy album i’ve heard since like the first used album
