Honestly, I don't get why people are always kissing Patton's ass, he's really talented, but shit, Faith No More was already breaking ground without him.

Honestly, this album might actually be better than Introduce Yourself for the sheer fact that Mosely holds his ugly voice back more here, plus it has cool instrumentals. : )
Angel Dust > The Real Thing > King for a Day > Album of the Year > We Care a Lot > Introduce Yourself

Just got the reissue. You could tell that this was a very very rough product and that FNM were far from the band we know them to be now. But there were clear signs in there with the funk metal drive of the title track and the post punk leanings of Mark Bowen.
The mixing didn't really help and Chuck wasn't a good fit for the band, but as I understand it the band were never on particularly bad terms with him when he left and they still hang out every now and then which is good. He's still a vital part of the band because without WCAL and Introduce Yourself, which he played a big part on, we don't know if Faith No More would've got where they did. Yeah they may have carried on with other vocalists but they probably wouldn't've found Mike Patton.

Oh and on my copy the 1:56 - 2:10 mark of As The Worm Turns is broken which suuucks cos it meant I had to essentially download the fixed version

what the fuck
THIS IS WHERE WE CARE A LOT IS FROM? I heard it on the radio and it was kinda cool but a bit meh ... figured it was on one of their better rated albums, don't think I've ever heard a song on a rock radio that wasn't from a critically acclaimed album before
|
| |
Oh oh oh oh WE CARE A LOT!
|
| |
Such a meh song tbh
wonder if i'd dig their later stuff
|
| |
Try King for a Day, if you don't dig that album maybe FNM is not for you man.

I'm a huge Faith No More fan but I've always found this pretty difficult to listen to.

Because it is.

Did Chuck Mosley had some fixation on disco? I mean because of the song titles: faster disco, arabian disco....

There are literally no good songs on here... even the version of We Care a Lot is way worse
|

Yeah I don't dig much Chuck's FNM era. For me it started with Patton.

FUCK NO ARSMORIENDI, NEW BEGINNINGS IS FUCKING AWESOME
|

A lot of this is basically Killing Joke worship but I don't get the hate.

I prefer The Jungle off of their "Faith. No More." demo.
....kidding, Jim Martin's straightforward but effective contributions to this song complete it quite nicely. from their new-wave origins, to a mismatch of talents (even Chuck didn't do so bad later with his band Cement) that are far more than the sum of their parts. add El Madman Patton later and this band catapulted to godly heights, unbeknownst to most not in a nu-/alt metal band - studying the lowest-common denominator of Patton's otherwordly works... as for their last 2 albums, they're not Icarus vs. the Sun very much on those, but they're sure not eatin sodium bicarbonate carrion on the ocean floor, either. I enjoy this as much as I enjoy Introduce Yourself aka Anne's Disco 1 & 2 or Nv Improved Song
