Well shit. Never had criticism quite like that haha. The spelling thing is probably cos I'm Australian and I spell like one. Not sure what you mean about the inverted comma thing, and ain't no way am I referring to an artist's full name the whole way through a review while talking about them cos it's clear who it refers to and nobody wants to read that.

I'm Australian. I don't mean like a difference between color and colour, I just mean straight up wrong spellings and typos that should be fixed after a first draft.

And for inconsistencies in inverted commas, I mean some song titles are referred to in inverted commas, while others aren't at all.

As for names, you're supposed to refer to people you don't personally know by their surname. You should refer to Liddiard as Liddiard, not Gareth. Gareth is an unwelcome informality in an essay like this.

Oi Snox let's grab a Furphy and debate genre boundaries/how underappreciated the Smithies are

OK I actually see what you mean about the name thing...this isn't an essay tho, it's a review and I wrote it with an intentionally different tone to how I write essays

But yeah I'll give it another read-through, I usually pride myself on grammar but yeah I'm totally prone to screw that up

As much as I enjoy their first two albums, Smith Street Band is the most overappreciated band on the planet rn

A review is an essay, and certain failure to meet standards compels me to see it in a negative light. Despite any deliberate intentions, this still reads poorly to me, hence the neg. You can feel free to neg any of my experimental reviews as well for the same reasons. All is fair in pos and neg.

I mean their last album sucked but how is Throw Me In The River not one of the best homegrown albums of the decade

But hey such is the nature of subjectivity, it's healthy to get neg'd on occasion
