Whoever produced the original versions of those songs did an excellent job of highlighting the intricacies of the guitar riffs.
Follow is dope, agreed. One of my favorites to (attempt to) sing along to.

The chorus to Floodgates reminds me of The Seeking.

That eruptive climax in Lumiere's version of Unseen shits on the original imo. Follow is also really good, such a nice chorus
Also, got a 320 of this so I'm gonna give it a listen

"eruptive climax" tehe
I'm just waiting 'til midnight when it (hopefully) gets put on Spotify.

I'm liking this so far tbh, however Lumiere had a better glitchy intro

Floodgates is fucking dope, agreed with Jeet on the Seeking vibes from it

Floodgates was when the album started picking up for me. The fluttery electronics kill it.

I thought Amethyst was pretty great, but yea Floodgates is when it started sounding almost Lumiere quality

Gotta throw some love to Violator too, the track crushes all the way through and ends in such an abrupt and badass way.

Agreed, Violator's last 40 seconds or so are brutal.
Wrath, Floodgates, Violator, Amethyst, and Sapphire are the best tracks in that order for me

Violator, Mirrors, Wrath, Floodgates, and then Sapphire for me. I appreciate Amethyst, but it didn't quite wow me.

Fair enough, I liked the guitar work on it. My major gripe with this is that Kyle relies far too much on his mids and cleans, rather than frequently switching between those crushing lows and high shrieks and then going into some cleans on a dime

I actually really like Deadlines. Dunno why that got lumped in with the bad tracks.
|
| |
This is a decent album but it doesn't leave a lasting impression at all. On 2nd listen and I'm already zoning out on most of it.

Deadlines has some dope moments yea
Also something that needs to be brought up is the fact that the new guitarist isn't nearly as good of a songwriter as Sam was

Any particularly catchy choruses on this?

There's a couple, none of them have the grabbing power that Lumiere choruses had tho

Deadlines isn't a bad track, but Cerulean, Deadlines, and Amethyst were the tracks that didn't grab me at all. I personally don't think Cerulean should have even been included on the record.
Overall, I like the record, but as Jeet said it's pretty easy to zone out to.

Absolutely loved it. I thought about giving it a 4.5 but I'll give it a few more listens before doing so. Can't believe I doubted this band.
