Im not familiar with this....some kind of boxed set?
|
| |
yeah man LMAO it's a 30 show compilation boxset. apparently AugustWest did the whole thing
|
| |
looks like the used box set goes for $1k+ on discogs
|
| |
Wow
|
| |
good thing there isn't a vinyl version
|
| |
ya one show a year from 65-95, it is crazy money, you can get ind. shows for about 40-60. I got the 81 show, there are quite a bit of good stuff in here as you can imagine
vinyl, LOL, it would came in a semi
|

"vinyl, LOL, it would came in a semi"
for real lol. i only have a few Dead vinyl actually, slacking a bit. of course i have GBs worth of shows on my computer hard drive
|
| |
I have a lot on the comput3r but I find those shows un fun to listen to, I still stick to cassettes. You can get about 15-20 shows of ranging quality for 50-100 bucks, and I go with the shows the Dead put out and other peoples burned copies. I have never been ale to listen to music through the computer
|
| |
that's cool, i've never really been drawn towards cassettes as a medium but obviously they were hugely important for heads and taping back in the day. i'm sure there is a bit of a ritual / charm to it for you nostalgia wise, but maybe i'm wrong
|
| |
ya I would say so.
I started picking them up becasue you could get a lot of them for cheap, they were to my amazement great quality recordings, if you know what to look for. The first tapes I liestened to from a dude I played colleger summer baseball with in the mid nineties, he was from kansas state, and his tapes were terrible, could hardly tell what was going on. But then I got 10-15 one time and they were very well recorded. Good tapes sound better than disc, and you can staop a tape mid 20 minute jam and it is still were you stoped it when you come back, cd are not the best medium for the dead tbh, also I was drawn to the personalized art on the cassettes, after you callect for a while you can ID certain artwork from other tapers. And I am a chronic collector categorizer. LOL so that lends itseld to hoards of tapes. But I def. get peeople who only go with the computer
|
| |
that's awesome tbh i didn't think about the custom artwork and what not. it definitely adds a more personal element / history to it than just the mp3s you grab online. do you still collect or trade?
i hoard music files and my library has been built up since the early 2000s, have over 600 GB well organized so i definitely get that. also periodically back it up on multiple hard drives just in case lol. i would be devastated to lose it. i also have a sizable vinyl collection (although only a handful of Dead stuff) but nothing too crazy

Ya when I see a good stack of tapes I’ll grab them, also I’m a list cause with vinyl, I have started limiting, but I still have stacks with no place to get stored. I started thinning out but then I’ll get 30-40 and be right back where I started, I have about 3000 that get the good treatment and another 3-4 hundred that I just have and want to get rid of
|
| |
i'll take them off your hands (~);}
|
| |
lol, I am probaly opening a store in about 5 years when the owner sells it to me, so you can buy them there I'll let you know

definitely let me know if/when that comes to fruition! you totally should. is it a record shop or what?
|
| |
Ya record, games, shirts, cds, internet store
Pretty built in customer base, that and my retirement money, in about 10 years should be able to make it work
|
| |
damn that's neat, guessing you're buddies with the owner? probably not the most prosperous venture (although i could be wrong) but would definitely be a very rewarding and satisfying way to settle down in life. i hope that works out and i would be glad to shop some Dead records there!
|
| |
Awesome man,
Ya I was offered it this fall, but before I F Could turn it down the owner said they are going to go for another five years which would be easier for me to do then, not tons of money, but would be a little more income
|
| |
wham where u at my dude? hope you're well
