Manila and Forever Sound are up there for me. I also enjoyed Charisma and Dry Spells. I don't have a definite ranking that I can place them in tho

I've just listened to it nonstop since Friday, haha

Well I can tell it clicked for you lol. I think the vocals will continue to be a barrier for me unfortunately. I've listened to it enough to feel as though the rest of the band is in place for a solid effort, but they're held back by one crucial addition and the song structuring as a whole. But, as I've said, I can see promise in this above the criticisms I've given.

I still need to jam it a few more times, but Manila was the only track that stood out to me

It might grow a bit. It did for me, admittedly. But there gets to a point where the drawbacks become too obvious to ignore.

Maybe it's cause this is my first Pianos album and I don't have their other material to compare this with, but I'm not getting an uplifting vibe from this. I find it to be overall melancholy. Take the lyrics of Dry Spells for example

Without the background of their older material then yeah, I can see the atmosphere coming across that way. The lyrics on other tracks are more hopeful/positive in general I feel, and the overall message of the album points in a direction that ebbs away from negativity. In some songs, the instruments showcase this pretty well I think (ex. "Charisma")

it's prob a bit more melancholy than Keep You and certainly more than TLLA hahaha

In context of TLLA this is literal sunshine and rainbows

if TLLA is the storm then this is a tired sun attempting to peek through the grey blanket of clouds

if TLLA is a tsunami then this is a survivor's diary

I'm starting to see why this album is getting some backlash. It is quite samey and lacks variety... Some tracks grow on me, then off right away. Blue is still an amazing song, as is Bloody Sweet and the singles. But the rest just doesn't really stick as much as my first listen.

Same dilemma with me. Some cuts off of this have really grown, while the flaws of others have become enlarged.

There was no way I could phrase that without being 100% certain that someone would make a suggestive comment in response. I applaud you for being the first, byrnes.
