If you mean that this has more flaws for you yet you enjoy it the most then yeah I get it. Minus Akatsuki (still like it, but they could have done more with it) I think this album is a tour de force.

Yeah that's it man!

Lotus is a bit of a slow burner but, whole album is their heaviest by a long shot.

I adore Symphonic Lotus live, gives me chills when the whole band kicks in for it after the intro. Plus it makes the song better composed overall. Lotus is for me the most important track on the album because it divides the first half of the album from the second and it's needed after such an abrasive 7 track dirge.

Sweet review, Pleb. Good to see you writing again. You wouldn't be wrong with any of the last three as a favourite.

Thanks Evo!

Arche is considerably weaker than this or Uroboros but it still rules.

Hmm nah, it actually was my favourite for a while. It's evidently more streamlined as was their intention, but all songs are tight, it has some gorgeous cleans and the reverb-heavy production creates a nice atmosphere that you can't find on other records or live shows.

Yeah I wouldn't say it's 'considerably' weaker. Sums up their career very well in one package, but I'd say the ballads are definately the winners on that overall whilst on here/Uro the quality is more well balanced.

I love the production ye but the album feels too long.

Some amazing cuts tho, Phenomenon being one of my fave Diru songs ever.

The last minute or so is bliss.

Kyo's vocals floating over the top of the instruments man, incredible.

Still doing it well in the Budokan days and Mode of Marrow.

The whole mish-mash of Arche's pacing feels like to me it's supposed to be made for a live setting and to summerise their career instead of making a cohesive album, so I think the length is justified.

All songs were intended for live performances, the DSS and Uro stuff could be sort of a hassle for them at times; Kaoru mentions it in many interviews. That also suggests that we might not be getting big epics again. Next album could be more of an Arche Part 2.

I'm cool with that, would be nice if they made one more epic before their career is over though. Like the length of Diabolos but have it mostly be a ballad than a sprawling huge Metal song.

Btw I just wanted to say that's surreal reading your review of this Gonzo, your reviews are much better now.
