@Voivod It was definitely my pleasure to give a second review to this bizarre masterpiece. It's a shame how underrated Voivod is to this day in both thrash and progressive circles, as they are easily one of the most unique bands I've heard in all of popular music.

Great review man! I personally love when a reviewer goes into some detail in terms of musical theory from a player's perspective, mainly because I'm a guitar player myself and more often than not it serves as the main reason I choose a certain album to experience. I also like how you name drop other bands and musicians of similar styles for comparison. I agree with the similarities Voivod shares here with the likes of Watchtower and how they could definitely be an influence to artists such as Atheist down the line. Only thing I disagree with is your comparing Snakes vocals to that of an early Dave Mustaine if he was good, I myself have always loved Mustaine's voice and find it to be one of the most distinct voices ever. I will always love vocalists with their OWN unique style over whether or not it's technically sound. That's why I've always hated things like American Idol, who cares if a singer can hit every note? I just wanna hear somebody who sings their own lyrics and dosen't try to sound like everyone else. I do love this album, I have the Noise records vinyl repress from this year and it sounds fantastic. So does Dimension Hatross.

Thanks for the feedback Samano! Perhaps it would have been wiser to specify that Snake is a better technical vocalist, as Dave really knew how to take advantage of his strange timbre for some of heavy metal's most cherished riffs. He may have lacked vocal skill, but he was a master of making it fit the fast and brutal Megadeth sound. Rust in Peace remains my favorite Big 4 release, even if old Slayer's vocals are tougher to emulate. I imagine this is a great album to listen to as an analog recording. Despite my perception of this album being dangerously close to perfection, it is actually only my third favorite Voivod album.
