One of the things that I adore so much of the earlier incarnation of the band is how innovative they were sonically. You never heard any hard rock bands with a metal vibe construct their songs the way they did on this and their self titled debut.Where they progressed production wise early on they seem to degress the further they went on and half assed things more often.Year of the Spider is still a solid follow up but A Different Kind Of Pain felt SO lazy I tried several times to get into that one but it left me bored to tears though Superfiction was a step back in the right direction I liked it overall but I miss the gruffness and commanding presence of their earlier work, but there are bands that when they get older and have a different outlook on life so will their music and i'm fine with that as long as they don't take too much of a tumble with their music. If it wouldn't of been for Superfiction Cold would of been officially dead.I'm a more casual fan of music it's easier for me to give bands I love at least a second chance whereas the diehards won't even allow one hiccup from their bands
